The Mermaid Reef is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic places of Cabo de Gata. Mainly for two reasons, the first one is the history surrounding this area and the second is its natural spectacle.
You might think that being called the Mermaid Reef, it is because there used to be mermaids along that coast and there are corals, right? Well, nothing could be further from the truth. Without giving too much away, we advise you to remember these three words: volcano, sailors, and fog. Yes, these three words, after taking the boat tour through the Mermaid Reef, you will understand why.
The boat tour at the Mermaid Reef consists of sailing through a large part of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park until reaching the area of the Mermaid Reef and the Cabo de Gata Lighthouse.
